Anastrozole is a drug indicated in the treatment of breast cancer in post-menopausal women. It is used both in adjuvant therapy (i.e. following surgery) and in metastatic breast cancer. It decreases the amount of estrogens that the body makes. Anastrozole belongs in the class of drugs known as aromatase inhibitors. It inhibits the enzyme aromatase, which is responsible for converting androgens (produced by women in the adrenal glands) to estrogens.
Anastrozole by Balkan Pharmaceuticals is a potent antiestrogen. Due to limited availability, high cost and high efficiency has become a highly coveted on the black market. Its active ingredient, anastrozole, is a revolutionary substance in the fight against breast cancer. It is part of a new generation of inhibitors of flavoring. Until recently most used product for this purpose was Proviron (Provimed-from the same manufacurer). But it is not very strong, in recommended doses (50-100 mg) adrogenice side effects can occur. Used over a period of time can suppress testosterone production.
Anastrozole works by blocking the enzyme responsible for converting testosterone to estrogen. When we say that a steroid is flavored, ie it is altered by this enzyme, leading to accumulation of estrogen in the body with side effects like water retention, weight gain and gynecomastia worst. In many cases during a steroid cycle, some people will not be too low estrogen in their body. It helps increase strength and muscle mass accumulation. For that they choose antiestrogen such as Clomed. They do not stop flavoring but prevent secondary effects.
Anastrozole is a potent and selective non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor indicated for the treatment of advanced breast cancer in post-menopausal women with disease progression following tamoxifen therapy. This is a potent and selective non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor. It significantly lowers serum estradiol concentrations and has no detectable effect on formation of adrenal corticosteroids or aldosterone.
The principal source of circulating estrogen (primarily estradiol) is conversion of adrenally-generated androstenedione to estrone by aromatase in peripheral tissues. Therefore, aromatase inhibition leads to a decrease in serum and tumor concentration of estrogen, leading to a decreased tumor mass or delayed progression of tumor growth. Anastrozole has no detectable effect on synthesis of adrenal corticosteroids, aldosterone, and thyroid hormone.
Also, this medication is actively used in sport by professional bodybuilders. The main goal of the Anastrozole course is to avoid water retention in the body, gynecomastia and a number of other side effects that occur after the end of a long course of taking serious anabolic steroids.
Anastrozole has a very pronounced effect: 1 mg of this substance can reduce the content of estradiol in the blood by 80%. Even such a popular drug as Tamoxifen does not have such a powerful effect. However, comparing these two drugs is not correct, because the principle of their action is completely different. Effects of the Anastrozole use:
- A serious reduction in the level of aromatization (up to 80 percent of the initial level).
- Blocking the estrogen synthesis.
- Significant inhibitory effect.
- Rapid effect of the drug. The limiting concentration of the active substance in the blood can be observed already after 2 hours after use, which makes it possible to stop the aromatization process very quickly.
- It is extremely effective for athletes with a tendency to aromatize.
